Playful bonding time using finger puppets

Materials:

  • Kitchen glove or construction paper and tape
  • Markers

Use simple, homemade finger puppets to capture your baby’s attention, stimulate their vision, and provide an early lesson in emotions.

  • Pull on a colorful kitchen glove and use a permanent marker to draw faces on the tip of each finger.
  • Draw faces that express different emotions, such as happy, sad, mad, scared, and surprised.
  • Keeping your hand within your baby’s 12-inch field of vision, narrate a puppet show that explores the range of feelings.
  • If you don’t have a kitchen glove, you can cut out construction-paper rectangles and tape them to make tubes that fit around your fingers.
