Splashing fun: Safe water play for your baby
Materials:
- Shallow-edged baking tray
- Towel
- Water
Feeling the sensation of water on their feet activates your baby’s brain and can encourage them to kick their feet.
- Lay a towel on the floor or in a shady spot outside.
- Place your baby on the towel on their back.
- Fill a shallow-edged baking tray with warm water.
- Place the tray of water under your baby’s bare feet.
If your child doesn’t move their feet at first, try stirring the water or dripping it on their toes to encourage them to explore the warm, wet feeling. The sound of splashing will also get their attention 🙂
Please use as little water as possible for this activity and always stay within arms’ reach of your baby while they play, as they can drown in as little as one inch of water.
